The Case:

A carpenter in Durham, NC had a claim placed against him by a developer he used to work for. It was really a scare tactic; she actually owed him money for work completed, and was trying to avoid having to pay.

The Investigation:

Our attorneys were able to uncover multiple previous times where the developer had done the same thing to other contractors. She simply filed suit each time work was completed in order to scare the contractors away from collecting the money they were owed, and went on to the next job.

The Results:

Our attorneys filed a counter claim on our client’s behalf for the money the developer owed him. The judge ruled in favor of the carpenter, awarding significant damages for fraud and unfair practices. As a result of the trial, the district attorney’s office issued warrants against the developer for fraud and deceit and she no longer works in the state.
